Derrick (Toby) Northan, the newest member of the Manhattan Express,  is a native of Baltimore Maryland. He began music at the age of 12. He attended the Meagan Baldwin School of Music. He is an accomplished Jazz guitarist. In 1979 he toured Europe with the Baltimore based group "Pamoja Experience". Toby has performed with some of the top groups in the Baltimore-Washington area.
